Hunger games II English II Workshop

Themes Workshop
Group 2

Workshop 1 - Unpacking Themes and Idea's
Theme - Rich vs Poor

----------------------

What do I think this theme means? -
I think this Rich vs Poor theme is based on the Capitol for its richness, with all their fancy clothes and high tech technology and District 12 for its poorness with their raggy washed out clothes and broken destroyed houses and their ancient ways of technology.

Detail - District 12 is in the past while the Capitol is in the future

Paragraph = Follow the sentence starters

In The Hunger Games, Directed by Gary Ross, Costumes are used effectively to show the theme of Rich vs Poor. For example in the Capitol the costumes are very posh, they are neat, tidy, colourful even their dogs are coloured. The material is futuristic and this makes us understand that the Capitol is more advanced than District 12. The Director did this to create a contrast between the costumes, in District 12 the costumes are older, the materials used are natural and well worn. This difference shows that there are privileges to living in the Capitol.

What I think makes a successful paragraph

I think to make a successful paragraph you need to be able to make your statement clear on what you're talking about so people won't be confused and instantly turned off on reading what you've written. I also think it's a good idea to link back to your theme and to the start of your sentence.
