Warm Lights - Orange, yellow, red tinge, Feelings - Cosy, Warm, Welcome

Artificial Light - Light Bulbs, Screens, LED's, Man-made sources of light, Electricity

Colour Palette - All the colours used in that shot E.g District - Natual greens, Blacks, Browns

Key Words - Atmosphere - The mood or feeling of a place. Mood - Feeling. Location - a place where something is set.

Scene Name - District 12
What is happening? - Katniss is running through town to go hunting in the woods

Techniques - Cold Light, Lots of greenery, Dull light, Natural light, Sunlight, Clouds

Effect on the viewer - Cold, Not where you want to be, Back in time, Old fashioned, Lots of poverty, Outdated materials, Live closers to the land

Directors Purpose ( Pick a theme) Rich v Poor - Who was more privilege, power & opportunities -They don't have the privilege of technology - No artificial sources of light. 

Other techniques - Costumes, Greys/Blacks - Coal Miners, Black shoes - less dirt

Name Scene - Train station at the capitol 

What is happening - Capitol citizens are waiting for the tributes to arrive

Techniques - Lighting- Cold, Bright, Artificial- Electricity, Colour palette- Colourful, Vibrant, Vivid Costumes and what/grey modern walls

Effect on the viewer - Modern, Sets the mood- Excited for the tributes

Directors Purpose - Rich v Poor- Power, privilege, & Opportunity - They have access to technology - Trains, the station, better sewing technology because the costumes are better. Not Poverty in Capitol - They don't have to work, Privilege of being able to go and watch the tributes arrive

In the scene at the train station, lighting and colour are used substantially to show the theme of 'rich vs poor' in this case, rich means the privileges given to those in the Capitol. This is demonstrated through the use of bright, cold, artificial lighting and a modern colour palette of whites and greys for the buildings and vibrant pinks and blues for the clothing This makes the audience feel like the location is modern and the citizens are excited for the tributes to arrive. The purpose of this was to show that the Capitol has the privilege of technology - They have electricity, trains and access to better clothing. This worked well with the use of costumes. The costumes of the Capitol are unique, exquisite and exotic which shows they have more variety and sewing technology than those of people in the district. This can be juxtaposed to the conditions in District 12 where there is no electrify and the colours and lighting are more natural.
