What does my painting depict? The subject matter of my painting is a painting of Iron Man	How did I create the different tones? I used diluted white acrylic paint to make a  thin wash.  I brushed this on the painting paper with the black gesso. This created a grey tone. To make lighter, grey tones, I added second and third layers of wash. I also did a bit of outlining in normal black and white paint to make it neater.	How did you compose your subject matter?  Iron Man is centred in the picture space	Is your subject matter symbolic or does it express an idea? My subject matter isn't symbolic. But it represents the marvel series.
	How did you paint the highlights?	Is the negative space important in your painting?
	With white washed paint and plain white paint. Washed paint to smooth it out and normal white paint to add more light to it.	Yes so it can make the character stand out more.

Reflection II Art

 For the last past 2 - 3 weeks, we've been working on stencilling in Art. Our first step was to find a shape anyway, and draw it down and then cut it out to make our stencil. we then had to paint on our stencil and make it pop.
For this, I used two symbols from one of the games I play.
One was based on the class White Mage, which is a class which bases its self on healing.
The other one I used was a tank Symbol, this class is called Gunbreaked and of course it mainly about attacking.

I picked the White Mage symbol because It's the class I play
And I picked the Gunbreaker symbol because one of the characters who follow you in your journey is a Gunbreaker.

What is the subject matter of your stencil? A Mickey Mouse? Gumboots? Kowhaiwhai? My subject matter is a pair of symbols that gives off a name. The one on the left is Called GunBreaker, and the one on the right is called White Mage. These symbols are symbols of a class from a game called FFXIV Gunbreaker is a tank while White Mage is a healer.	Does your colour set a mood or structure the picture space? Not really using colour (Used Black and Whites)	What is the chief interest of your painting? The stencil shape? The negative space? The Stencil’s themselves as I know the meaning around them.	Does your stencil express any values or ideas?  My symbols represent a class, The round symbol with the circle in the middle is the healing class White mage. While the symbol that seems mirrored is the tank class GunBreaker.
Is your stencil subject matter a symbol? A logo? A portrait? Something else? A symbol	Are the colours related in bold contrasts or gradual transitions (blends)? No colours used	Stencils are quite flat. Have you used overlap to create space? No I didn’t. overlap	Is the meaning of your stencil changed by the way you paint it?  repeating the stencil shape? Nope
Have combined your stencil with other imagery? For e.g., used it in a landscape? No, but I’ve added texture to the ground and my image.	Does your painting use a variety of applications of paint? Have you used Impasto or flat painting? A wash, stippling or drybrush?  Used stippling with a brush to give the work texture.	Tone and Colour contrast create space. Do your colours react against each other? Move forward or backwards in space? Not really because I only used the shades of Black and White.	How does repeating a stencil symbol change its meaning? Does it have more emphasis or less?  Didn’t repeat or overlap
Does your subject matter change? Is the painting more about the colour, form, texture, and space than the stencil subject matter? Still about the stencil	What kind of texture does your painting have? Were you able to control this effect? A rough kind of texture. Yes I was able to, before I did my final work, I did a single piece of only the Gun Breaker symbol with the same texture in the background to see the results.	Does the repeated placement of your stencil create any focal points or leading lines? Nope	How does the colour used change the meaning of the stencil? For e.g.,if a Batman symbol is painted in pink colour?  The original Symbols are all in black, I just changed it to white but it still gives off the same reasoning

Street Art II Art

Term 3 has started which means a new semester, semester 2, which also means new options. Last semester I had Japanese, DTE and ICT, this semester I have Japanese (again as it's an option you have to have for a full year), ICT and Art. This semester for art were starting off with street arts. We first had to find a picture that we like and made a blog post about it and what we liked about it.

Reuben Woods What I like about this Street Art is the fact that it brings out the olden style feel from back then from when buildings like houses and shops were one thing with the shops below and the apartments on top and as well as what the cars looked back then. The picture its self gives me an England or France vibe from back then.

What I also like about this picture is the ways they use the various browns and blacks to make the Art pop-out, it's also better than using the typical black and white for an older style look. and the browns also give off the right vibe for the art. because I feel that adding bright colours or dark dull colours that weren't brown would just ruin everything and the theme that was set.
