Recently as the weeks go on, less and less interesting things are happening, because of assessments for year 11, the only thing that really seems to make my days at school fun is seeing my friends, and Friday period 4, 5 and lunch where I have coaching.

But apart from that, not much is happening.

So instead I'll be talking about what I've been doing at home, instead of talking about Assessments.

Recently at home, I've been playing sims 4, which I fully enjoy. Whenever I start up a sim game I also go Pinterest shopping for clothes and mods. When I go shopping for things, I try to look in the anime section for hairs as some people make really good hairs, most of the hairs in my sims are from, Genshin Impact, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XV. Cause I love Final Fantasy.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, I've been waiting a while for the new Endwalker Expansion to come out for FFXIV. My first time playing Final Fantasy was during a trial of the game. I really enjoyed the trial so decided to get all of the current expansions since they were on a discount. I enjoy the storyline and the effects. though I seemed to be having trouble completing a quest. <- That was in 2020 in Nov. Now it's 2021, and I wish to continue playing again. Start a new character and relive the game again.

And can't wait for the new expansion with the two new classes.

Whereas the LGBT community have been given the same rights as straight couples, like allowing them to adopt a child, there are still people out there who think that same-sex couples should not be allowed to adopt.

Firstly, people who are in a same-sex relationship shouldn't be denied a child just because their partner is the same sex as them. Sometimes people are more happier with the same sex than the other.

Hunger Games II English II Film Study

In the movie, The Hunger Game, directed by Gary Ross, Close up shots are used effectively throughout the movie to show how the characters are feeling. For example, when a close-up shot of Katniss at the Tribute Parade is shown with her looking around constantly at a rapid pace. This makes us understand that Katniss is nervous with all the people who she's never seen in her life yelling and cheering at her and others who are present in the parade. The purpose of this is to show the aduiance just how nervous Katniss is about the whole thing. The director did this to give us a feeling on how Katniss felt about the parade and being in it. This worked well with the close up shots of the people in the crowd and a shot of Katniss's face on a banner so we can have a feeling of how she feels during the parade. This can be juxtaposed to the tribute parade in Catching fire where we get another close up shot of Katniss but instead of anoxuis or nervous she's sort of stern becuase she knows whats going on this time around.

Introduction (Intro)
During the 20th Century when World War 1 (1914 - 1918) and World War 2 (1939 - 1945) happened a
lot of the technology that we created and used had evolved over time. Some of the biggest changes
in technology were inventions made for war in the 20th Century. Some of these included Tanks,
Bombs, and Submarines. The side of technology that evolved during that time period which wasn’t war
based included. Television, (With Color) Microwaves, Spacecrafts and lastly Internet. Some of these
have changed to where they are no longer complicated looking and are  easier to understand and use
for our own benefit. Some of these objects have evolved over the time of our daily lives and changed
it for the best or for the worst.

Law
Most of the technological weapons that we use today started developing and improving themselves
in the 20th century during World War 1 & 2. Some of these weapons were Tanks, Submarines and guns.
Tanks were used by both sides of the war to shoot down enemies and buildings while also being
protected at the same time. Submarines were for underwater activities from out of eyesight, used to
strike down enemies on the sea from below them. Guns were used from behind the sandbags to
shoot across the field and shoot down incoming enemies. Most of these weapons are still used today
in the armies. One of them, the gun is used nowadays by not only the army but also the FBI and the
Police Force to help out and protect the citizens.

One of the most feared and said to be popular tanks in World War 2 was a tank made in 1942 by the
Germans. When a need for a new tank had become pressing when some of their men were trapped
in Stalingrad were in need of help.  The Panther tank  dealt devastating damage. One of Germany's top
Panther commanders was SS-Oberscharführer Ernst Barkmann. By the end of World war 2 he had
destroyed about 80 tanks with the Panther, truly showing how terrifying the tank itself is.

The USS Greyback, so called because it had a grey back, was used by the US in WW2. The Greyback was sunk during a bombing attack by  a Japanese naval bomber in February 1944 along with 80 of the crew who lived on the ship. Seventy-five years later on June 5th,  2019 the wreck of the submarine was rediscovered within Japan’s seas

While the war was going on other things that didn’t involve warfare were also created. Going from Cars,
TVs, and Microwaves, something that we all use in the 21st Century. The first Affordable car released
for purchase in the 20th Century which started its production in 1908 and was released for people in
America in 1927 was the Ford Model T made by the Ford Motor Company and went for the price of
$850. (Which is equivalent to $12,340.56 in 2020).
While in 1950 the Microwave or Microwave Oven was created by accident when a self-taught American
engineer by the name of Percy Spencer noticed that the Microwave he was creating was melting the
chocolate in his pocket from the Active Radar coming from the Microwave. Till this very day we still
use Microwaves but nowadays they're less complicated and easier to use and to understand.

Conclusion (Sum Up)
Most of the weapons we use today can be linked to weapons that were used in the past. Most of these weapons are still used in 2020 in the armies and now as well in the Police Force so they can protect the citizens.
Many of the things we have created in the 20th Century have improved to become better and stronger over time. People who create cars have started making electric cars so we don’t pollute the air anymore, and Tv’s are no longer small and now give us a more vivid and bigger view to look at. But even though so many things have changed and evolved over time these products till this very day are still evolving and improving for the better or worse for the future.

Reflection II English II Film Study

Over the last past few weeks in English, we've been focusing on Film Study and the movie The Hunger Games.
When we first started off the hunger games we watched the movie for fun
And the second time we watched it was for details for the Essay we would make on the film.
When we were watching the film for the second time for details we followed a theme. There were four themes that we followed

The first time we rewatched the movie for detail, we went over the difference between the Capitol and District 12. We also went over the reaping scene. For this, we had to add down what we saw, and what we heard.
(We used the theme Rich vs Poor for this)

The second time we watched the movies for details we did a comparison to the reaping scene and the interview at the start of the movie (Tribute Parade) we also added down what the three-finger salute meant in the movie. as well as some camera shots that may have been seen throughout the movie.

The third time we added the themes such as The Struggle For Power, The Power of Propaganda and Hope and Rebellion. we first started off by looking through the three themes, and adding down what we thought was hope or propaganda. We then looked through the quotes that were littered throughout the movie and wrote them down. we then did Hope and Rebellion itself and stuck down the moments that we remember where Katniss either rebelled or when Katniss and Petta experienced hope throughout the movie. and last but not least we looked at the Opening cards and the opening scene. For the Opening cards, we wrote down terms that related to the movie for E.g - Reaping - Where 1 girl and 1 boy are selected from each district to partake in The Hunger Games.
And then, at last, we looked through the opening scene which gave us a small history of the hunger games and a quote.

Hope & Rebellion II Hunger Games II English

Hope & Rebellion 

Hope and Rebellion in The Hunger Games, isn't a much-seen theme but it's still there and it differently goes along with the story and makes up the characters and gives us an insight on things.
There are only a few times where we see hope, one's in the scene of the announcement the game master makes telling the contestants that if two people from the same district are alive then they can win. This gives the players a sense of hope to win the game.
Rebellion can also be seen a bit by katniss as she cheats the system at the near end of the game.

In The Hunger Games, Directed by Gary Ross, Costumes are used effectively to show the theme of Rich vs Poor. For example in the Capitol the costumes are very posh, they are neat, tidy, colourful even their dogs are coloured. The material is futuristic and this makes us understand that the Capitol is more advanced than District 12. The Director did this to create a contrast between the costumes, in District 12 the costumes are older, the materials used are natural and well worn. This difference shows that there are privileges to living in the Capitol.

What I think makes a successful paragraph

I think to make a successful paragraph you need to be able to make your statement clear on what you're talking about so people won't be confused and instantly turned off on reading what you've written. I also think it's a good idea to link back to your theme and to the start of your sentence.

In English for term 3 were doing Film study, and the movie were studying is the hunger games as shown by recent posts.
For this Posts, I had to do a mind map on a specific theme within the movie. For this, I picked Rich VS Poor and the difference between District 12 and the Capitol. Varying from Costumes, Technology, and the Capitol and District 12 it's self and how they look and work and how the people live.

1 How much brainwashing do you think has happened for teenagers to make this sort of claim as they're being led to their "death"?
I really don't think brainwashing is really involved as it's just really common senes that they're using, they know that they won't wake up to see another day and having common senes makes people fear that. So to them "Living in a divided state" is also like never waking up again and never achieving that one thing in life they've always wanted to, so to them it's like dying. because when you die, you don't wake up. so even if a part of them is going somewhere else, their not going to really experience anything that, that part of them is doing.

2 Why, do you think, has Shusterman chosen to have three characters tell their story?
To show us the story between a normal kid, an orphan kid, and a religious kid and how they react and work together to survive from being unwound.

3 Lev is a tithe. This means that he is the 10% that his family will give back to the church as an offering. What are your thoughts on this?
Honestly, I don't know what to think, I mean religious people have many different rules from non-reglious people, and just the thought of knowing you're going to die at a certain age just freaks me out. because what if there's something he really wants to do but has to give that up because he was told to. It's kinda sad knowing that you'll never see your loved one's again just because your parents said that you're doing a great thing for the family and for the church. to me, it just sounds like their just trying to get rid of him, they're a king and a queen and he's just the pawn in their game, he's their little pawn to just sacrifice to win the game.

4 Risa is a state home kid - she was unwanted at birth, and now the state have deiced she is no longer useful. Do you think that the state should ever be able to determine if one life is more useful than another?
Probably. I guess it just depends on how they act and what they wish to do for a job... but then again it's the state and no ones gonna wanna deny the state due to how much power they have.

5 Connor's parents have chosen to unwind him due to his difficult behaviour. They have then booked a ticket to the Bahamas. In your opinion, how do parents view their children? Why do you think this?
Parents who unwind their children view their children as basically nothing, they neglect and toss them to the side. because they're just going to die anyway. So there would be no point in their eyes to pay attention to them, or really give them the love they needed. to parents their just objects waiting to get thrown out and recycled for better use.

6 Pastor Dan presents as being conflicted. What reasons might he have to encourage Lev in his journey as a tithe? Why does he encourage him to run?
At the start, he encourages Lev due to religious reasons, and he encourages Lev to run later on because he felt something for Lev, guilt. because he hasn't experienced everything in life that he should have the chance to experience, and probably that he feels that no child should feel happy about the fact that their dying.

Unwind Blurb
The process by which a child is both Terminated and kept alive is called 'unwinding'  Unwinding is now common, and accepted practice in society.

In the not-too-distant future, teens Connor, Risa and Lev are on the run for their lives. Following the second Civil war, between pro-choice and pro-life forces, the United States now allows parents to unwind their unwanted and difficult kids between the ages of thirteen and eighteen: Their bodies are surgically taken apart and all the organs and tissues are used in other people. According to the law, the kids aren't considered dead, they're "Living in a divided state." But Connor, Risa and Lev, and thousands of other teens slated for "Unwinding", don't see it that way. They choose instead to "Kick AWOL," or run away. Unwind follows these three across the country as they travel together, split up, and meet again when their destinies cross in a Harvest Camp where they are slated to be unwound.


1. What do you already know about pro-life and pro-choice groups? What do these terms mean? is it an issue you have thought about.
Pro-Life's side is where they believe life is too important and that the unborn child cannot be killed and Pro-Choice is the side where they believe that they get a choice to if they want to keep or get rid of the child before it's born.

2. What do you know about organ donation?It's where a person allows an organ of theirs to be removed from their body and given to another person, this legal either by consent while the donor is alive. And if dead with the assent of the next of the kin.

3. Teenagers to be unwound are sent to harvest camps. Can you make a connection between the language used to describe this place, and other places people have been sent historically?
In the story, the camp makes a connection with the concentration camps that existed in world war 2 when Hitler had reigned in Germany, concentration camps are sort of like the harvest camp in the story. But instead of being automatically killed when you reach harvest camp. The people in Concentration camp are either, starved to death or worked to death. because it was a concentration camp then they had little to rest and were all malnourished.

4. What religious connotation does the word 'harvest' evoke?
It envokes a free will to give up a part of yourself to a god. without feeling as though you have no choice or say.

5. The term "living in a divided state" here is really a euphemism for what? Can you think of other, common euphemisms? Why do people use euphemisms?

People use Euphemisms to tell other people about the death of someone or something in a nice way. so it doesn't affect them that bad and they don't have a breakdown but instead just cry in shock, like any other person would do when they lost someone close to them.

6. What is the definition of Legal?

Something is approved of by the Law/Minister meaning that is appropriate to do and if you do it, it won't get you put in jail or fined.

7. What about Ethical?

Ethical, based on your morals and how you view a certain topic and how you react to it. Like for example, if you were a Pro-Life then you believe that life is too important to get rid of therefore their Anti-Abortion and if you were Pro-Choice, then you believe that you yourself have a right to pick whether the child dies or lives.

8. Do you believe that because something is legal, it is ethical, or morally right?

Honestly, it's really based on what it is, in my opinion, if Unwind was Legal right now, I wouldn't put it as Morally right because your basically just killing a helpless child whose trying their best in life and trying to achieve something. But you're taking away that chance, and if they didn't want the child they could of just put it up for adoption. There are families out there who can't have children and would love one.

9. Can things that are ethically sound ever be illegal? Provide examples. 
Yes they can, such examples include - Avoiding/Cheating Taxes and Speeding

A new week means new goals to try to achieve.
The goals I want to achieve this week are the following.

(1) Doing my best to get my work done on time. So I can move onto a new task the next day.
(2) Getting onto the export license.
(3) Try to achieve a good sleep pattern for school so I won't be tired the next day.

Why Hussian Khan used  indentured labour?

Hussian Khan had used Indentured Labour so he could gain more money for himself and make the money economically. He did this by buying children that were forced into beings slaves and forced them to do his work so the work could get done faster and he could gain money faster. Hussian Khan has used the children's vulnerableness to his advances and overworked them day and night from sunrise to sunset. This means the children had no breaks during the day and had worked all day at the loom making carpets.
Taking this to his advantage he left the children Dirty and Malnourished and gave them no chance to clean themselves up or bandage their wounds from the looms that they worked at each day to make carpets for him. Just for him to sell them and make the children work even harder so he could gain more money from the carpets the children made. He got away with this for a little bit more after the rule for banning child labour became a thing. As he told people that he treated the children as his family and in return for their hard work he paid them.
(And taking it apart and making it smalled) Hussian Khan had used Indentured Labour so he could gain more money for himself.
Hussian Khan did this by buying children that were forced into being slaves due to debt and forced them to do his work so the work could get done fast and he could gain money faster.

Hussian Khan was a horrible man who never cared about any of the children's well beings and took the vulnerability of the children to his advantage.

Hussian Used this to his advantage by starving the children so they would work harder so they could get food, he also didn’t allow them to clean and disinfect their wounds from the looms they worked at each day while leaving them dirty and malnourished from the lack of food and water.

Hussian Khan had no care for the children that slaved for him. The only thing he cared about was the money he made out of it, though after the ban on child slavery had become a true thing, he managed to keep them in his hold for a while longer saying the children were like family to him and that he paid them for their hard work.

Meaning that Hussain Khan had used indentured labour for his own sick dream of becoming wealthy while using the children's disadvantages to his advantages so he could gain more and more money.

Athletics day II 2020 II Sports

Last week Thursday we had Athletics. The one day in life where sport only mattered and the only day where you can manage to lose your teacher and have a reason for losing them and not think up a random excuse as to why you couldn't find them.

Being me I'm not one entirely for sports as I no longer have the stamina and strength that I used to have when in Primary.
But I still overall enjoyed this year Athletics. and If I could I'd make every fortnight Thursday Athletics day.

What I liked about Athletics?
Well, I overall enjoyed everything about Thursday because it was nice and sunny and there were fun events to go through with, meaning that there wasn't a single moment on Thursday that I was bored, I enjoyed the events I had. I first had Long jump and I feel I did great on that. then we had sprints but I missed that because I couldn't find the spot I was meant to be at or the teacher I was with. and Lastly, I had discs. Not one for discs but I still enjoyed it.

Did I improve?
The only thing I feel that I really improved in was Long jump. Not really Discs as I still find it hard to hold the disc right without it falling from my hand, and sprints I don't know if I have or haven't as I missed sprints.

Carrot cake cupcake (Food)

Last we for Cooking we made Carrot cake cupcakes.
The ingredients for this is...

Overall the texture of the end result looked good, it looked a bit smooth
The smell was soft but strong
The taste of it overall was really good, I'm not a fan of carrot but having it in a cupcake made it a lot better. The tase was very exceeding that you couldn't taste the carrot but that was the important part as the carrot was the secret ingredient.

I overall enjoyed the making of this and would defiantly make it again.

Astronomy & Astrology differences (Science)

It's almost the end of the term which means the end of the school year... till next year, we have 2 weeks left, and during this time were doing Astronomy for our science topic. One of our pages in the scipad Page 228 is called Astronomy and Astrology which talks about the difference between the two.

So I'm going to bring that page to you but in my own words.

While Astronomy and Astrology may sound similar to each other in words and sound meaning, they both are very different topics.
Astrology is what most scientists would call a Pseudoscience (Pseudoscience meaning False or Fraudulent or rather false science) And while is a real science as it deals with facts and evidence.

Astrology is a system of predicting the future, but this lacks any evidence that it really works.

An Astrologer also believes that the positions of the planets and stars at the moment of a person birth has an effect on their personality and some of the major events that happen to them.

While they believe that

Astronomy is based on the laws of physics and aims to describe what is happening to our universe based on what they see.

The differences are very well known, Astrology is about the constellations or the zodiac signs and how people believe that they change a person attitude and how their life works, while Astronomy is based about our stars and our planets that live in the milk way.

Astrology is known as a false science.
While
Astronomy is known as a real science as it uses the laws of physics and mathematics to find out what they need to know.

Term 4 Research assignment (Social studies)

CONCLUSION

I learnt that were horrible people because were killing trees to make buildings when we could use other materials. Were also horrible because those trees help us, they give us air that we can consume to being with.

I even learnt that our rainforests only cover 6% of our worlds surface. That's not a lot when you think about it, and when you stop and think about the recent fire disasters, that's just getting that 6% down to 5 or 4% leaving us soon with barely any trees left that could harbour us the air we need.

I also found out that most deforestation isn't caused by disasters but by humans ourselves because we use them to build buildings and to make a single piece of paper when we could find any other material to make buildings and we could also use scrapped paper to make new paper instead of cutting down more trees.

By learning this I also learnt that if we don't stop this and plant more trees then 100 years from now the new generation will have to suffer with the loss of trees and fresh air. Because we were too stubborn to plant trees.
There are so many things we could do to resolve this problem but we don't we just stick around and wait out as the years go by and our trees are slowly dying and getting cut down by people or fires.

5. Shylock refuses to consider the idea of Mercy but demands justice. Consider the following ideas:

• Is mercy the same as forgiveness

1. Antonio knows the reason why because he'd given money to people that owed Shylock so they could pay Shylock off (Quote - Leave him alone. I won't follow him around with useless pleas anymore. He wants me dead. I know the real reason. I've often given money to people who were unable to pay back their loans to him. That's why he hates me)

2. The Duke cannot deny the law because if he did then that would be threatening the security of all foreign merchants in Venice, and thats how the city made it's money

3. Antonio realizes his fate due to the two things he's done and said.
1. He's called Shylock a Dog and Shylock obviously didn't like that as he called Shylock a dog before he had any reason two.
2. The second one is that Antonio gave money to people that owed Shylock so the people could pay back Shylock as to what they owed him.

4. Not really, as even though Antonio's life is on the line due to Bassanio asking for money to marry Portia, Antonio doesn't care and the only thing he wants from Bassanio is for him to be there at his death.

5. Mercy can be known to be the same as forgiveness. Due to the fact that you had forgiven them for what they did to you or someone else you know by giving them the mercy of forgetting what they did and putting it behind you. (Also known as you not killing them for what they did)

1. Lorenzo thinks of Antonio as a faithful man who cares a lot about Bassanio and would likely do anything to help out Bassanio.
2. She tells Lorenzo that she'll give him and Jessica the master rights of the house whiles she's gone to save Antonio.

3. She asks of the two to take the place of her and Bassanio as the masters of the house till the resolve the problem and get back with Bassanio.

4. She thinks Bassanio and Antonio must be alike due to a line she says saying - "I've never regretted doing good, and I don't now. Friends who spend a lot of time together and really care equally for each other must have many traits in common. Since Antonio's my husband's best friend, they must be very similar men. In that case, the money I've sent is a small price to pay to rescue someone who resembles my Bassanio, who's like my own soul."

5. Back then women were not allowed in courts. So the only way for Nerissa and Portia to save Antonio is to go dressed as men so they can enter the court to save him from the bond. Also so they won't be recognised by anybody

6. Portia describes the behaviour of young men as immature teenagers who haven't yet reached puberty and have only really care about women and style and showing off about what they can manage to do to impress others.

Yes and No, Yes for Towards Bassanio and some of his friends as Portia cares a lot about Bassanio and is willing to give a big amount of money to save one of his friends and No towards some other people as she has a bit of a feisty attitude towards some people but overall means well towards them and that she also has the mind and strength of her own to go out of the house dressed as a man into a court where women are not allowed.

2. Jessica says Portia is like a blessing and that if he doesn't enjoy having Porta on eath then he doesn't deserve her in heaven and that if two gods made a bet and one used Portia as their stake then the other god would have a hard time coming up with a better woman who could beat Portia.

Self learning goals (English)

Well, last weeks went okay I guess despite moving down one level on our choices. so basically we have like Ranks like Learners is the bottom one and Expert is the top. I've been at expert for half of the whole year but went down one due to not having what I needed up. But I really don't mind, this week I hope to get the work I needed up done and on my blog.
