Health - Creating a hero

Term 2 week 2 of health was diving into the Ethical approach, in doing so we were told to create a hero that represents a ethical approach for me and my friend's hero we did the ethical approach of Virtue.

The definition of an ethical approach is as follows: An Ethical Principle is a RULE or FOUNDATION that guides a person or group's thinking about ethical matters. Ethical principles get to the heart of people's attitudes, values and beliefs and therefore are a useful framework (That reflects the underlying concepts of HEE).

Our ethical approach of virtue is an ethical approach that focuses on attitudes or character traits that enable us to be and to act in ways that develop our human potential, it causes us to ask whether our actions are reflective of the kind of person we want to be.

Our hero demonstrates our ethical approach of virtue via the scales that help him to evaluate whats the best way to go about helping the woman who is being robbed

Connections - week 1 (Of connections)

For our second English assessment of the year and term 2 were doing connections, we recently finished watching Blade Runner 2049, and reading Klara and the sun. And lastly watching Gattaca.

Klara and the sun
_____________________________

Locate 3-5 new vocabulary words in the articles and define them. Uncanny - A being beyond what is normal or expected Mysophobic - An irrational or disproportionate fear of germs and contamination Benevolent - Well-meaning and Kind, E.g Enjoying helping others. Circumscribed - Subject to limits or subjected to limits. Also means being limited in things to do.

According to the articles, what important themes/ideas do Klara and the sun raise? Answer in complete sentences, with accompanying explanations as necessary.

The themes portrayed in Klara and the sun are Loneliness, relationships, and love.

Loneliness - The children in Klara and the sun unlike us don't go to school physically where they can play with their friends and meet new people, the children in Klara and the sun go to school by staying at home and using technology to learn. This leaves children feeling lonely, the child at the target point being Josie. Klara the AF, her point in life is not to babysit Josie or be a servant but to be a companion to Josie till she reaches college.

Relationships - Throughout the story of Klara and the sun, we meet Klara's only friend, 'Rick' Unlike Josie he isn't lifted but that doesn't stop Josie from being friends with him. Throughout the story, we also find out that Josie once had a sister who sadly died. And that Josie's father and mother weren't on good terms so went their separate ways.

Love - The theme of love throughout Klara and the sun isn't that noticeable but is still there. During the middle of the book, we are told that Josie has the same illness as her sister that indefinitely ended up killing her. This led to Josie becoming significantly sick and unable to function or move. A part in the book that shows the theme of love is when Josie's mother goes up to Josie and tells the sick child that if Josie wants she will willingly quit her job and spend time with Josie. Quitting one's job for someone else is a show of affection itself especially when the job pays richly.

Locate another article about Klara and the sun and record something new that you learned after reading it. Link the article in your post.

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2021/04/kazuo-ishiguro-klara-and-the-sun/618083/ Its a small detail that I didn't know but I think as really neat as it explains Klara a bit. Klara's name as Ishiguro picked means brightness. I feel that goes well with the personality she has, it also goes well with the fact that the sun is bright and that she's looking out for the sun and praying to it in hope that it'd help Josie and give Josie help like the sun gave the beggar man and his dog help. Klara's personality goes well with the meaning of her name, she's carefree, cheerful, intelligent/bright, but is also observant.

Klara and the sun & Blade Runner 2049

_____________________________

What connection can you draw so far between klara and the sun and blade runner 2049? For example Themes/ideas, characters, relationships, style, etc?

A few connections that I could make between Klara and the sun and Blade runner 2049 are that both are Futuristic, have robots or AI involved and both show discrimination. Another connection between these two is 'What is love?'

Futuristic - Both Blade Runner and Klara and the sun are both set in the near future where technology is more advanced and capable of becoming human-like.

Robots - In Blade Runner Humanoid robots people called replicants who act very much like humans are introduced to us. In Klara and the sun were introduced to Klara an artificial intelligent robot (AI)

Discrimination - In both Blade runner and Klara and the sun, both Replicant and AI are discriminated by a variety of people in the movie and the book. Due to them being advanced in technology and taking other people's jobs.

What is love - Both show the theme of it's not what's inside, it's about how many people love you, it's about who you are as a person.

Hos your understanding of what it means to be human/have personhood changed since studying these texts? How so?

My understanding so far hasn't changed on what it means to be human/have personhood since studying these texts, because I've already watched a couple other movies like these and they nearly share the same thing. So it's got kinda repetitive in a way. Plus I know that to be human and have personhood you have to have your own personality and your own sense of will, as well as the ability to think for yourself. That's personhood, the ability to make your own choices and to think for yourself and feel for yourself.

And If I ever meet someone like Klara, I'd feel happy that she has her own personhood in a way that works for her. And K who didn't at first, but did in the end. I wouldn't still feel different about personhood after meeting them, cause I've already watched or read things about people like K and Klara, people who can't think for themself or have their own feelings, but in the end or throughout the movie or story they all in some way learn how to feel or think for their self.

Biology - Osmosis

Thursday 26th May 2022

Today in Biology we did an experiment on Osmosis.
This started with grabbing 3 beakers and filling them up each to the same amount so each beaker had about 150m of water in them. 2 of our beakers had to be filled up with either sugar or salt while the 3rd beaker was left with just the plain water when we stuck the sugar and salt in their separate beakers we stir them till it looks dissolved, then we go and get 3 gummy bears, one gummy bear for each beaker.

Osmosis - A term used to describe a special type of diffusion. Osmosis is the movement of water from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.

Hyper Tonic - High Concentration
Hypo Tonic - Low Concentration
IsoTonic - Equal Concentration

Hypothesis - I think that the gummy bear will be a Hypo Tonic which means it will have a high concentration. I think this is because Osmosis has a semi-permeable membrane, which means that only certain liquids and gasses can exit and enter through the membrane. It will have a high concentration because Glucose is a larger molecule and won't be gained entry to the membrane which means that the molecules within the first beaker will still be within where they started. I think the 2nd beaker which has the salt will be a high concentration as well like the sugar because like glucose it's a larger molecule and particularly needs more help to get through the membrane and because Osmosis is semi-permeable it's likely entry for salt will not be granted. By this, I'm thinking that both gummy bears by the end will still be their regular small size.

I think the last beaker, the beaker with nothing but plain water will be Isotonic, with equal concentration, this is because there is no other molecule to interrupt what is already in the beaker. therefore the water molecules are at an equal concentration on both sides of the membrane, and the movement of the water will be the same in both directions, making them equal. This means that I think the gummies will be in the medium size not small but not too big either.

CONCLUSION
---------------------

Friday 27th May 2022

Its been a day since we stuck 3 gummies bears in 3 different beakers, one with sugar, one with salt, and one with just plain water. Today we poured out the water and stuck our gummies bears on a sheet of toweling paper. Out of one of my hypotheses I only got one right, I said that the gummies bear in beaker 2, the gummy bear that was stuck into salt and water didn't grow an inch and stayed its regular packaged gummy bear size. This tells me that gummy 2 was indeed hypotonic.

For Gummy 1 the gummy we stuck into sugar and water, which grew massively in size. Meaning that it's hypertonic and not a hypo tonic. due to having a higher concentration than the gummy bear that was hypotonic and also being much larger in size than the hypotonic gummy bear.

The last beaker, beaker 3 was the beak with just water in it, the results of that were odd. The gummy had grown in size but it wasn't as large as the gummy stuck in sugar. when taking the water gummy bear out of the beaker it broke in half, but when we took the sugar one out it stayed intact. Like gummy 1 it's also hypertonic and not as I thought an Isotonic. When comparing Gummy 1 (Sugar) to gummy 3 (Water), Gummy 3 is a hypertonic, and Gummy 1 is a hypotonic this is because Gummy 3 lysed, and broke in half which means gummy 3 took in more water than it could handle, compared to gummy 1 which was still intact.

Post about anything

Now like before there just isn't anything interesting to talk about, that goes on at school cause all were doing is assessments, I mean there is one thing we have been doing that isn't an assessment, which is called Mates and Dates, but we only have it twice or once a week and we've so far only done two sessions so not much to really talk about.

So instead I'll be talking about FFXIV a game I really love and adore

I began playing Final Fantasy XIV last year, and to say I love it, the community nice and there are lots of people to talk to. My favourite expansion is Shadow brings as it has a character named G'raha Tia in it, G'raha is a Cat boy (Yes they have cat people, as well as bunny people, and demon people called Au ra, Bunny people are called Veria's while Cat people are called Miqo'te)

I play as a female Miqo'te to represent my gender, a female.
When playing FFXIV you can play as and job on one class, so alts rarely are a needed thing as you can play any job on one character.
On my character I main healers, the healer I play is called the White Mage which is mainly a healing type. Each healer has their own role, one of the other healers can heal but can also buff. The one healer I am really excited about is the sage, which will come out in patch 6.0 when EndWalker comes out, The sage is a healer who mainly does healing and barriers to protect their teammates from dying.

I honestly really enjoy playing as a healer cause I rather save people than cause people problems by always dying, plus when you're a healer you get to stay away from the boss most of the time, which is nice.

Wananga II Post about anything

Recently as the weeks go on, less and less interesting things are happening, because of assessments for year 11, the only thing that really seems to make my days at school fun is seeing my friends, and Friday period 4, 5 and lunch where I have coaching.

But apart from that, not much is happening.

So instead I'll be talking about what I've been doing at home, instead of talking about Assessments.

Recently at home, I've been playing sims 4, which I fully enjoy. Whenever I start up a sim game I also go Pinterest shopping for clothes and mods. When I go shopping for things, I try to look in the anime section for hairs as some people make really good hairs, most of the hairs in my sims are from, Genshin Impact, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XV. Cause I love Final Fantasy.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, I've been waiting a while for the new Endwalker Expansion to come out for FFXIV. My first time playing Final Fantasy was during a trial of the game. I really enjoyed the trial so decided to get all of the current expansions since they were on a discount. I enjoy the storyline and the effects. though I seemed to be having trouble completing a quest. <- That was in 2020 in Nov. Now it's 2021, and I wish to continue playing again. Start a new character and relive the game again.
And can't wait for the new expansion with the two new classes.

Blog Post... About Anything II Wananga

Since not much has been happening in Wananga lately except for assessments I'm going to be talking about what I've been doing out of school at home for the last past few days.

My Favourite things to do when out of school is to play Pokemon most importantly Pokemon Sword, I had recently got the expansion pass after deciding between the pass or getting Little Nightmares 2. I'm glad I got the pass cause I recently got Dialga and Palkia which I fully enjoyed EV training them and levelling them up to the max level. The other pokemon on my team is the male Indeed, Galvantula and the rapid strike version of Urshifu.

After hard grinding and gathering EXP candies, I got all of them to level 100 eventually.
I named my Indeedee Dachi and my Galvantula Sparkles. (I Love them very much)

In all honesty, I can't wait for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond as myself has played Pokemon Platinum and fully enjoyed the game and can't wait for the remakes. The only thing I wished they changed was the look of it, and not made it chibi and made it into sort of Pokemon Gen 8's look. But we all can't get what we want.

Blog Post II What I've been doing the last past 2 weeks II

For the last past 2 weeks in Wananga, we've been working on Assessment. This assessment is based on our Well-being. There are two docs that both equal one Assessment. Thankfully their not that complicated if you know what it's talking about. Most of the stuff on the assessment is about our well-being and factors that could change our well-being or affect it. For E.g sleep, If I don't get enough sleep I'm all groggy and tired in the morning till lunchtime comes around.

Apart from Wananga

I've been doing other things in school such as doing coach training before the 28th for PE, which in turn is another Assessment.
And in Health I'm almost onto another Assessment about the changes in one's Well-Being we'll be watching a movie for this assessment and writing down what changes the Main Character went through.
In English, we've also recently started another Assessment... While doing that Assessment I'm also trying to finish another English one.

So in turn most of my school life currently is just Assessment.

Reflection II Art

For the last past 2 - 3 weeks, we've been working on stencilling in Art. Our first step was to find a shape anyway, and draw it down and then cut it out to make our stencil. we then had to paint on our stencil and make it pop.
For this, I used two symbols from one of the games I play.
One was based on the class White Mage, which is a class which bases its self on healing.
The other one I used was a tank Symbol, this class is called Gunbreaked and of course it mainly about attacking.

I picked the White Mage symbol because It's the class I play
And I picked the Gunbreaker symbol because one of the characters who follow you in your journey is a Gunbreaker.

-----------------------------

Subject Matter

Form

Composition / Space

Content /

Meaning

What is the subject matter of your stencil? A Mickey Mouse? Gumboots? Kowhaiwhai?

My subject matter is a pair of symbols that gives off a name. The one on the left is Called GunBreaker, and the one on the right is called White Mage. These symbols are symbols of a class from a game called FFXIV
Gunbreaker is a tank while White Mage is a healer.

Does your colour set a mood or structure the picture space?

Not really using colour (Used Black and Whites)

What is the chief interest of your painting? The stencil shape? The negative space?

The Stencil’s themselves as I know the meaning around them.

Does your stencil express any values or ideas?

My symbols represent a class, The round symbol with the circle in the middle is the healing class White mage.

While the symbol that seems mirrored is the tank class GunBreaker.

Is your stencil subject matter a symbol? A logo? A portrait? Something else?

A symbol

Are the colours related in bold contrasts or gradual transitions (blends)?

No colours used

Stencils are quite flat. Have you used overlap to create space?

No I didn’t. overlap

Is the meaning of your stencil changed by the way you paint it?  repeating the stencil shape?

Nope

Have combined your stencil with other imagery? For e.g., used it in a landscape?

No, but I’ve added texture to the ground and my image.

Does your painting use a variety of applications of paint? Have you used Impasto or flat painting? A wash, stippling or drybrush?

Used stippling with a brush to give the work texture.

Tone and Colour contrast create space. Do your colours react against each other? Move forward or backwards in space?

Not really because I only used the shades of Black and White.

How does repeating a stencil symbol change its meaning? Does it have more emphasis or less?

Didn’t repeat or overlap

Does your subject matter change? Is the painting more about the colour, form, texture, and space than the stencil subject matter?

Still about the stencil

What kind of texture does your painting have? Were you able to control this effect?

A rough kind of texture. Yes I was able to, before I did my final work, I did a single piece of only the Gun Breaker symbol with the same texture in the background to see the results.

Does the repeated placement of your stencil create any focal points or leading lines?

Nope

How does the colour used change the meaning of the stencil? For e.g.,if a Batman symbol is painted in pink colour?

The original Symbols are all in black, I just changed it to white but it still gives off the same reasoning

Image of the final thing
The two small pictures are my trials and the big thing is my final with both of the symbols put together.

Matariki II Social Studies II

Week 12, 1 more day till the end of the week and 1 more day till the end of the term, for the last past week we've been doing a presentation on Matariki and what Public Holiday we would replace it with.
This took us 2 weeks to complete, the first week was research week and the last week this week was the week that we started and finished our presentations, for our presentations we made posters.

I feel relatively happy with my poster, and I'm glad I feel that way as I'm pretty impressed in the final outcome.

What went well and why?
I feel this went well because, everything just went so smoothly, the research was easy and the final project was fun, I fully enjoyed making a poster and fully enjoyed this research topic even though it's a topic I've done plenty of times before.

What didn't go so well and why?
I honestly don't think anything went wrong because I had all the research in control and the poster making as well.

If you were to do this again what would you do differently and why?
If I even did this again, I for sure would make sure the poster was smaller, and instead of white for the main background, I'd pick black because I feel that black goes really well with blues and it'd bring out the night sky vibe/look.

DTE Reflection II DTE

The end of the week is coming meaning the end of a term, which means goodbye term two and welcome term three.
I've had DTE for two terms now One and Two, I had fun in DTE, doing work with the boys that I knew from primary.

For the couple of week of DTE term one, we learned coding and Morse code and how they worked, learning code we went to a site called code.org where we played around with all the games on it trying out all the codes and making small mini-games. After that, we made ourselves sites, which was a fun experience and would help in the future if I ever needed to make one, then we made info graphs about sitting positions and the effects it gives us good and bad and how they affect us.

And then later on with everything we've learned we were sent to make ourselves a game, we had two choices, using Gamefroot a site where you can make small games. and the second choice is doing a year 11 assignment, I choose the NCEA level 1 assignment. The Assignment was to use Scarcth a site where drawing and animation are involved. For the assignment, we were given specific instructions that we had to follow if each one wasn't followed correctly credits wouldn't be given

Sadly I never got to finish it because of Lockdown.

Site
https://sites.google.com/hornby.school.nz/rubys-core-site/dte
Info Graph
https://sites.google.com/hornby.school.nz/rubys-core-site/dte/term-1-game-dev
(Info Graph lies at the very bottom)

Then later Term two came around, the term that's about to come to an end, Term Two was all about teamwork, during lockdown we did class calls. During those calls, we were put into groups for this term's work. I had joined a group of 3 boys that I knew from Primary and High school (Now), Also I never joined any girls cause there's pretty much only 3 girls there... but their rarely there so I just joined the group with the boys that I knew. I'm happy with my choice though because I had a fun experience with them, even if some days they were a bit chaotic, I guess it made my day in the end anyway.

Term two's work was a challenge where we had to make an app that could help others, the app could be anything. and it didn't even have to be finished. Because we weren't being marked on the app we were being marked on teamwork.
I feel that we did fairly well in teamwork, there were some days where a certain person wasn't doing anything, but the teamwork was overall really good, we did a research slide and that turned out to be really successful, so at the least to say I'm proud of my group.

I were confused about a few things mostly term one because I had everything under control when it hit term two, what confused me about Term one, was the making of the game part of term one, I didn't pick scratch first because I was a bit nervous about doing it. So I picked Gamefroot, but it confused me to no ends because the codes and coding were all over the place so you could never tell what you were actually coding.

But apart from that

I fairly enjoyed DTE, mostly term two though as I got to work with people that I knew.
What could change?
I honestly don't know what could change I'm not much of a person who really asks for changes, but if I could pick a change I'd suggest more group works where everyone can interact as I find it really easy to progress through things when I'm working with others I know.

(Research I was talking about that involved Term Two)

Unwind II English II Novel Study

This section opens with Lev in a pawnbroker's. What does this tell you about how his character is changing?
Lev character is changing in ways where he is no longer hiding behind someone and running away from a situation to get help from an adult, instead, he's fighting for someone and himself by loosening up a bit and becoming a bit more aggressive so he can get his way. and also his trust in people has gone down due to knowing that if he trusted people he would be at a higher risk of getting unwound than he was before.

While being transported to possible safety. Some of the kids on the run wonder, "Would it be better to die or be unwound?" If given the choice, which would you choose? Why? This response requires more than one or two sentences! Put forward at least three reasons why you think you do.
I'm my opinion I'd rather die to be honest than die and get taken apart, Reason why is because I'd rather have every part of me still intact so I can die peacefully like others so I know that I died my own person to stay my own person and not to die and go to someone else to be apart of someone who will soon own that part of me, officially making a part of me theirs.

I also don't want to go to someone else just to cause them pain, as shown with Cy-Fi even since he got a part of Tyler's brain his life hasn't been the same and sometimes he switches out into a personality like Tylers and steals things just like Tyler did, doing that hurts Cy-Fi because he doesn't like stealing.

And lastly, I don't want anyone to have any part of me, to begin with, it's my body anyway, so why should people have something that's apart of me when they could have someone else's, I mean think about it there's already been lots of people being unwound so why not go to them to get parts. I honestly just rather die whole, I rather die intact at each end, not a single limb missing.

Another question the kids in the book discuss is, "If every part of you is still alive but inside someone else, are you alive or are you dead?" They also wonder if consciousness can exist even if it's spread out, and if the soul remains intact. What do you think? Read Thomas Hobbes' Ship of Theseus puzzle to help you make a decision. Be sure to reference it in your answer.
https://metaphysicist.com/puzzles/ship_theseus/
In my opinion, based on real-world knowledge and not book knowledge where indeed if you have a certain part of a brain that functions movement or memories then it's possible to have the other person memories or for yourself to lose control because the other person believes their still alive, making it seem that the part that was given to someone else is possibly still alive and active as shown with Cy-fi and Tyler who was a boy that got unwound and found himself attached to Cy-fi but sometimes Cy-fi losses control of himself like Tyler takes control of his body and emotions and thoughts leaving Cy-fi in a panic. But apart from that no. I don't believe that in the real human world knowledge, I hardly believe that if you get a part of someone that already died and that part happens to be a brain or a leg, I doubt that you'd automatically just lose control of your thoughts and legs because even if you get something from someone else that's died, it's basically impossible for them to take control again because their already dead and gone. It's like a sentence from the Ship of Theseus - Once every part had been replaced. Hobbes offered the reassembled ship as the true original. But he may have had his tongue in his cheek about the ambiguous use of language in truth claims. ITis the true original, qua material, but not qua a functioning ship
By this, I'm saying that you can fix someone up with new parts, but it won't be the original parts of someone and the parts that once were alive will never be the same and will never function with their own muscle memory again.

This section of the novel sees Lev and Cy-Fi finally make it to Joplin. As they get closers Cy-Fi's behaviour becomes increasingly erratic. What are some of the things he does, or things he likes, that are not his own behaviours or memories?
An example of this is when Cyrus or Cy-Fi says that Tyler, the person who is now attached to him like Pumpkin Ice-Cream, where Cyrus doesn't. Another is when they're going to Joplin and they reach a certain street Cyrus walks through the street like he knows it, but he himself has never been to Joplin before.

What was Cy-Ty hiding in his backyard? Pg 185-194
In a hole in the ground in his backyard was a briefcase which consisted of different type of jewellery.

The section ends with Cy-Ty reaching his destination. What do you think of his parents' behaviour? What does Lev's support show you about his character?
Tyler's parent's act frighten around Cyrus, (Who in the book they called Tyler, due to Tyler being an evidence entity within Cyrus now) because they had thought that he would harm them. And Lev, his support in the story shows that he's not afraid to stick up for himself and other any more, and when it comes to sticking up for himself and others he tends to show a more violent forceful side that we never saw in the start of the book.

PE II Fitness

Day 2 of week 11, and the 2nd period of PE for the week, leaving one more period of PE for the week on Friday.
I did my normal routine today, but instead, I missed out on some of them and played bench ball and a tiny bit of Netball.

Not much was done but I feel I'm getting faster at Sit-Ups, which I thinks a good improvement.

Syria II Social Studies II Topic Research

Starting last week we started a research on countries which have been overridden by war. For this, I picked Syria as it seemed to stick out the most to me. Seeing as this took a whole 2 weeks I feel very proud of the final result.

What went well and why - I feel It went well because I found that using my own brainpower helped out a lot with this presentation and just going to a few sites helped out too. and I also had pretty much everything under control which made everything easy for me so no stress was put upon me.

What didn't go so well and why - Honestly I'm positive not much went wrong because I had everything under control. But I feel there was one thing that was tough to do. For our presentation, we were told to find a story of a refugee and what their travel was like. But it was hard to find videos about them as it only had videos about closing borders to refugees and some about opening borders.

If I were to do this again what would I do differently and why - If I do this again, I might pick a different country as doing Syria seemed really easy based on how much is happening in Syria right now, and I might as well find another way to make my presentation.

PE II Fitness

This is the Second to last week of school making to be out only 6 more periods of PE till school ends for the term.
This week I did the same list as last week but instead of skipping I used the weights to try and increase my arm movement and muscles, by doing that my arms now feel kinda lose and more light.

I feel I did good for this period, I got fast at my sit up's which is a good improvement in my point.
Next week we'll be going over our pre-tests and redoing them to see if we've made improvements so I can't wait to see how much sit-ups I can do in 30 seconds next week, to see if I've improved or I need to do a bit more.

Unwind II Transit-Workshop II English

Follow up Task
Define the following vocab - Fatigue, Kleptomaniac

Fatigue - The action to do to much in a short span and in result to become tired or exhausted
Kleptomaniac - Kleptomaniac is an Impulse-control disorder that in results leaves its user in an urge to steal something.

Unwind II Part Three-Transit II English

In the course of the book, Connor and Risa get separated from Lev, who travels for a time with another character. Why do you Shusterman choose to split the narrative into two distinct threads? What do you think this achieves? How does this affect the evolution of the characters?
This has allowed Lev to get more book time and to also allow him to gain more character development because really at the start he was just a kid who thought of Risa and Connor as his kidnappers and his real and only goal at the time was to get freedom from them and get unwound, though that changed when he called Pastor Dan. After he's separated he meets with Cy-Fi meeting these characters give Lev character devolvement and more book time. this also, however, tells us what happens when someone who's alive gets a part of someone's brain or any part attached to them.

On p125 & p129 the novel touches on same-sex relationships. Has the attitude towards same-sex couples changed (for better or worse) in this futuristic society? Explain your response
Not really as in our day and age someplace accept same-sex marriage because there are some states in America which allow same-sex Marriage and this story is based in America, we also know it's illegal because Cy-Fi says he has two dads who were mmarried even though marriage was illegal for same-sex marriage. I'm guessing that mmarried is a type of secret form of marriage.

P130 begins our journey into understanding a little more about Cy-Fi. Through his character, what do you learn about the effects of unwinding on both the donor and receiver?
We learned that Cy-Fi had a part of someone else's brain attached to his brain. this effected him in many ways, the effect was that there were times when he'd just lose control of himself and start stealing things. Something which he'd never do but it was something that the kid who got unwound would do, the kid who got a half of his brain attached to Cy-Fi. We find this out when Cy-Fi steals from a shop but later on tells Lev to take to away from out of his site in case he changes his mind, indicating to the part of his brain that belonged to the other kid, he also talks about how he sees things about this kid.

What is the real reason Cy-Fi needs to get to Joplin, Mo? pg131
Like the answer above, a part of his brain isn't his, it's another kids brain. Cy-Fi needed to go to Joplin because that's the one place he keeps seeing/hearing so he assumes that the kid who's now a part of him used to live there or someone close to him lives there.

What is the significance of Connor holding in his anger around Roland Pg 147
During the book Risa and Connor find themselves in an unwinding shelter with children who were going to get unwound, one of them also happens to be Roland. During their stay, Risa talks to Connor about how whenever some is near Connor they start talking about someone who could take down Roland. Risa said that it was best if Connor keep his anger in check, because if his anger got the best of him in front of Roland then it would likely be a fight that wouldn't end till either Roland or Connor died.

Connor's anger and lack of impulse control is often a problem for him until he learns to control and channel his emotions. Do you ever feel like your impulses are stronger than your will? What strategies do you use to control your feelings? Do they work?
I must admit there are times when I get into fights with my brother due to the things he says and once he says it, it's an immediate reaction for me to snap back because some things he says I find offending even if they don't seem to be.I also guess I just snap back now is because of when I was younger our relationship was like tipping iceberg and back then I was really sensitive and words hurt a lot for me back then, so it's sort of like a protective mechanism for me to just snap back. Other than that I don't follow my impulses unless it means comforting my friends if they're sad.

Part Two-Storked II Novel Study II English

"You can't change laws without first changing human nature." - Nurse Greta"
"You can't change human nature without first changing the law." - Nurse Young

1 What is the story based on a nursery rhyme that circulates among the youth?
The Nursery rhyme that's going around children is the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme of the egg that fell off a wall and couldn't be put back together again, however, in Unwind it's a different case. In Unwind It's Humphrey Dunfee, and the Dunfee's are a family, who started out a bit crazy but became even crazier after unwinding their child. It was said the father worked for the government, so he got into the national unwind database and got a printout of every single person who had received a piece of Humphrey, they did that so they could go to those people and get back the parts of their son so they could put him back together.

2 Risa overhears two nurses debating law and human nature. Which argument do you think is stronger? Why do you think this? Write a paragraph explaining your thoughts on law and human nature.
I pick Nuse Young because it's something that we all go through today. and Honestly, I think it's better to get the law out to everyone because then they'll change themselves to adapt to this new law, Changing human nature first would be so confusing. So let's say you're going shopping and buy the same amount as usual but for some reason at the check out there's someone standing next to the person who's checking out your food and they say "Sorry, unfortunately, you'll have to put some things back, because of this new Law Bla Bla" I'd feel really confused like I'd be so used to buying the same amount of things that I have every year, but suddenly out of the blue I can't, and I didn't know this because no one told us about this law until just now.

3 This section opens with a mother abandoning her newborn infant on the doorstep of a house in a good neighbourhood. As she leaves, she thinks "How wonderful it is that she can get a second chance. How wonderful it is that she can dismiss her responsibility so easily." I don't really find this right, because you're giving up a child that could give you potential happiness in the future, and you're giving up the next line of generation to your family. But the sad thing is that the child could be possibly be passed around constantly like the child that Connor saw when he was young on their doorstep, they could pass the child around till it grew to sick to live and died without actually living a propper life.

4 In your opinion, by allowing new mothers to give up their children so readily, does it take away from the value of a child?
It's in the middle for me, it really depends if the child lives or dies from being passed around, however, if it does live it really counts on if the child will care that they don't know their parents and try to find out about them. or just the fact that they could care less that they didn't know about their parents because of what they did to them. But really it just depends if the child gets distracted by the fact of wanting to find their parents. Because yes if they're to distracted

5 What is the role of a mother? Do you think the title of mother is something that should be earned or a natural right of the woman who gave birth?
I honestly think the tittle mother should be earned and not given straight away, because how could you call yourself a mother if you give away your child or if you neglect it, a mother doesn't do that and shouldn't.

6 Whats skills or attributes do Connor and Risa have that work well together?
Well Risa has experience with children and how to handle them, while Connor has quick thinking though sometimes it may lead to dangerous situations Risa sure to fix it, and Connor also has great reflexes and good stamina as shown when he's running away from the juvey cops.

7 Connor and Lev have very different experiences with storking. How has this helped shape each of their attitudes toward the society they live in?
Connor finds that stroking is bad as when he was young a baby had been storked and passed from door to door, this lead to the baby dying. Lev, however, likes it as he has storked siblings and has a dislike to Connor grabbing the child.

8 Connor is concerned the baby won't be loved, and ultimately will die, so he takes it. What does this show us about him as a person?
That despite what he'd done before getting the note of unwinding, Connor deep down is a very caring person for people who need it and gets guilty feelings on past mistakes when they come to life again, and decides instead of sitting back like last time, he decided that he'd take action

9 What makes Lev realise he doesn't want to be unwound P79
Lev had found out over the phone with Pastor dan, that he hadn't told Lev to run from his supposed kidnappers but to stay with them and to run away from being unwound, lev had reflected on that and what he'd experienced with Connor and Risa, and even though he had mixed feelings he realised the mistake that he'd had made.

10 Each of the other characters on the run has a tragic background story. Why were Hayden, Ronald and Mai set to be unwound? Which do you think, is the most tragic? Explain your response.
Mai was getting unwound because her family had wanted a boy, so when they had finally gotten a boy they decided to unwind her as they had no use for her, and had no desire to love her. This also included Mai's other sisters.
Hayden was getting unwound because his parents had a divorce and kept going to court to get custody over him, they, later on, couldn't take it anymore, because of all the failed court meetings and all the stress. so to solve their problems they unwound him.
Roland was getting unwound by his parents because he had to much testosterone or steroids, or a combination of both. This left him looking too scary for other peoples liking that even the Military couldn't take it, like Connor he got into fights at school. However what got him unwound was the fact that his stepfather had beat his mother, so he took action and beat his stepfather up for hurting his mother but in turn, his mother had taken his stepfathers side. His stepfather was given a warning while Roland was sent off to be unwound.

11 What tattoo does Roland have?
Roland has a tiger shark tattoo on his wrist

P.E II Fitness II

We've been at school now for 3 weeks from after lockdown, and we've had 2/3 periods of PE so far, during our time doing PE we've been doing some fitness. These are the tests that I did, we had to do all of these before we could actually get onto the real thing.

I feel really happy about some of them, though I feel I could do a bit more better on the NCF Test, the Agility Test and the Press-ups, I might, however, change that later on.
But I feel I did okay on doing this PE Test. The whole thing took two periods of PE. Honestly, I thought it might have taken about 3 Periods to get this done. Based on how much PE I do.

But I'm overall happy with my results.
