Language of film dictionary II English II Film Study

Body Language - Used to make weird or normal movements or give off nonverbal interactions.

Costumes - The clothing and cosmetic styling of a character.

Hair Styles - A hairdo that makes your character look the part of the play they take part in.

Makeup - Something an actor would usually wear Male or female to fit their role.

Lighting - So you can see the actor or actress while on stage or in a film so the outcome is not complete darkness, it also gives off a nice effect.

Props - Items that Characters would use during a film or play or just a few things that stay in the background of a stage or film.

Settings - A place where the text is set.

Dialogue - The words a character will speak on stage or in film. (sort of like a script)

Sound Effects - Sounds which give the film or acting more effect to the play or movie to make the audience more entranced

Music - Something used to make the film or act more entertaining and worth the while.

Silence - Meaning no sound is present in film/act and something dramatic or bad may happen.

Symbols - A certain object or creature that may be seen around from within the film more than once. on certain cases like in the background or on a piece of paper, that said character might be holding.

Special FX - Something that makes the act/film stand out from everything else.
